You may have heard that PUMA is sponsoring International Moth Worlds in Dubai. Going from a Volvo 70 campaign to a small dinghy event may seem like a big jump, but Moths have been a part of PUMA’s sailing efforts from the start.

PUMA Sailing partnered with Bladerider International during the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009. The partnership showcased two fully PUMA-branded foiling moths at all 11 VOR stopovers. Crewed by world class Moth sailors, the mini ‘il mostro moths’ provided entertainment for spectators as they blasted around the harbors.

The Foiling Moth class is one of the fastest growing small boat classes in the world. Lifting out of the water in just five knots of winds and achieving boat speeds of over 25 knots, these boats dart around on their hydrofoils just like their namesake, moths in the night. Attracting crowds of astounded onlookers, the PUMA Moths were quite a spectacle for each of the Volvo Villages around the world.
